The Cathedral Cantor

Marcell Fladerer-Armbrecht studied church music and the organ in Detmold and Berlin. He completed his church music studies in 2008 with a grade A diploma. He subsequently studied the organ as a postgraduate in applied music, successfully completing this in 2010 with concerts in Berlin and Tangermünde. His formative teachers included Professor Dr Andreas Sieling, Professor Paolo Crivellaro, Professor Leo van Doeselaar and Professor Wolfgang Seifen in the subjects organ and organ improvisation. In the discipline of choir conducting he was especially influenced by Professors Uwe Gronostay and Kai-Uwe Jirka. He participated in numerous master classes and specialised in the field of organ for the pre-Bach renaissance and baroque music. Concert trips took him as an organist and choir director to places including Cinque Terre in Italy and Chichester Cathedral in England. In 2005 he took on his first post as Cantor in the Berlin district of Tegel-Süd. From 2008 to 2012 he was District Cantor for Schöneberg, Berlin, and since October 2012 he has been Cantor at the St Peter and Paul Cathedral in Brandenburg. Alongside the ensembles in the cathedral, he voluntarily conducts the Kreuzberg Chamber Choir in Berlin. .
